Delaware County Boasts Three of Philadelphia Area’s Most Challenging Golf Courses

Golfers in Delaware County looking for the most challenging course should head over to Merion Golf Club’s East Course, writes Sharon Oliver for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The PBJ has compiled a list of the Top 25 Philadelphia-area golf courses ranked by the United States Golf Association Course Rating and Slope Database.

Merion’s East Course ranked fifth in the region for difficulty, with a slope rating of 146 and a USGA Course Rating of 73.4.

The Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield is also among the Top 10, checking in at No. 9 with a slope rating of 143 and a 74.7 USGA Course Rating.

The list of Delaware County courses is rounded off at No. 13 with the Golf Course at Glen Mills, which has a slope rating of 142 and a 71.7 USGA Course Rating.

The most difficult golf course in the Philadelphia area is New Jersey’s Pine Valley Golf Club, which has the maximum slope rating of 155.
