Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square has attracted several prestigious events following its ambitious course renovation, writes Jim Finnegan for Main Line Today.

The first is the BMW Championship in September. This penultimate event of the PGA Tour’s FedExCup playoffs will bring the Top 70 players to Delaware County to compete for 30 spots on the Tour Championship.

The course that has been restored to the legendary Donald Ross layout will also host the 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and the 2027 men’s PGA Championship.

Aronimink was home to major events even before the restoration, including AT&T National in 2010 and 2011. The latest renovation ensures that the course will be even more inviting to professional golfers.

Aronimink’s renovation was conducted by Gil Hanse, the renowned golf course architect from Malvern.

“The course will be much different from what the players saw in 2010 and 2011, more as it was when it first opened in 1928, as Ross intended it,” said Jeff Kiddie, Aronimink’s head golf pro.
