West Chester resident Jackie Verna has earned a coveted spot in the Top 12 on NBC’s “The Voice.”

The 22-year-old, a member of Team Adam (Levine), survived the live playoffs in Season 14 of the Emmy Award-winning singing competition with a cover of “Once” by Maren Morris.

“I’m beaming with pride,” Levine said after Verna’s performance. “Once again, you’re one of those people that everybody under-estimated and I said, ‘Watch out for this girl.’

“There is no one in this competition right now that can really carry those big, sustained, beautiful, perfect, pristine, crystal notes like you. I think you’re one in a billion, and I think you were fantastic.”

Verna, a Great Valley High School graduate, took to Twitter this weekend to thank her fans close to home.

“Living in Chester County is great, but getting to represent all of you on ‘The Voice’ is an absolute honor!” she wrote.

Delaware County also had an entrant in this season of “The Voice” as Alice Keys picked Chester native Jamai Springfield for her team. However, the 29-year-old has since been eliminated.
