The idea of a wireless charging base is not new, but one that is i-Phone optimized for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone X is a welcome sight for owners of newer iPhones.

The Mophie Wireless Charging Base is one of two iPhone optimized wireless charging pads. It is smaller and charges faster than the other option (Belkin BoostUp Wireless Charging Pad).

The Mophie Wireless Charging Base is just under 4 inches in diameter, about the size of a round table coaster, compared to the Belkin which is about 6.2” inches. Smaller means it fits better on the limited space of your desk.

Yes, size does matter, but so does speed.

The Mophie takes 40 minutes less than the Belkin to charge from 0% to 100% (3 hours, 12 minutes for the Mophie; 3 hours and 53 minutes for the Belkin).

Here’s what is really nice about an iPhone optimized wireless charging base.  First, you know it will work with your new iPhone.  That’s not always the case with those that are designed to work for Android phones and claim to work with iPhones also.

Also, you know it’s safe for your phone. You can leave your phone on this wireless charging base all day while you work and not worry about your battery not being fully charged or your phone losing power by being on the base for too long.

This is not an issue with iPhones using regular chargers anyway, but some people worry about this with other wireless charging pads.

In case you’ve never used a wireless charging pad before, here’s how it works.  You plug in the base and leave it on your desk.  When you want to charge your phone, you just put it on the base.  Nothing to plug in. No cables to carry with you.
