Whereas many nonprofits take months to plan campaigns for today, Giving Tuesday, a national day devoted to giving back, a Chadds Ford-based startup can help them raise money in a different, less-expensive way, writes Julie Zeglen for Generocity.
According to Zeglen, Bonbids is a cause marketing company that connects merchants with nonprofits to help the former increase brand recognition and the latter earn dollars via third-party bidding.
Merchants donate gift cards to Bonbids, which then auctions them off on its site. Upon registering to bid for those gift cards, site users select a nonprofit they’re simultaneously fundraising for.
Ninety percent of users’ contributions are donated to the nonprofit they’ve selected to represent, while the other 10 percent goes to Bonbids.
Nonprofits can also download the Bonbids banner to display on their own websites.
