Dave Forrest, a former Lansdowne administrator, is taking up a new career challenge in Nebraska, writes Eric Taylor for the Ralston (Neb.) Recorder.

Forrest, 56, was recently named the first-ever city administrator of Ralston. With more than 25 years of city administrator experience, Forrest is the ideal candidate to lead the more-than-a-century-old city.

Until his appointment, his new hometown was the only city in Nebraska with a population more than 5,000 that had never had a city administrator. As part of his duties, Forrest will work on growing the city’s economic development and helping it achieve financial stability.

He also sees a lot of similarities between his current position and the time he spent in Lansdowne. The Delco borough has a population of around 11,000 and a layout that is similar to Ralston’s. It also faces similar challenges.

“Lansdowne is a suburb of Philadelphia, so with Ralston being so close to Omaha, it’s a situation I’m used to,” he said. “Like much of the East Coast, it’s landlocked, so you’re always looking for redevelopment from within.”
