SEPTA to Increase Prices on July 1
Commuters face more unwelcome news from SEPTA, as it has announced that fares will increase on July 1, writes Mark Dent for Billy Penn.
The Broad Street Line and Market-Frankford Line, as well as buses and trolleys, will increase from $1.80 to $2.00, while single-ride tickets will go up from $2.25 to $2.50.
Depending on the length of the trip, Regional Rail fares will increase by 25 or 50 cents per trip, while TrailPasses and TransPasses will also see a price hike.
SEPTA officials are planning to hold five community meetings across the state to talk about the pricing changes.
Tokens purchased before the increase will still be valid after the change, whereas anyone using the Travel Wallet Key program will have to pay the increase on July 1.
