Chester Upland Soccer for Success will host its 4th Annual Spring Play Day on Wednesday, April 19, and sponsors are needed.

More than 200 children in grades K-8 from 12 participating Delaware County schools will gather for a round-robin soccer tournament held at the STEM Academy at Showalter, located at 1100 West 10th Street in Chester.

This annual event serves as a culmination of a year-long soccer program that provides 550 player-mentees with physical activity, nutrition education, mentorship, and community events.

Highlights of the Chester Upland Soccer for Success program:

• more than 1,500 children participated in the first five years at 12 locations in Chester and Upland
• 79 percent of overweight or obese player-mentees improved or maintained their body mass index
• 96 percent of surveyed player-mentees liked soccer more after participating in Soccer for Success

Chester Upland Soccer for Success is presented in partnership with Widener University, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer, and the Chester Upland School District.
