Widener University has relocated its popular Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) from Exton to its main campus in Chester.

Individuals aged 50 and older who are interested in learning more about the learning and social opportunities offered through OLLI are invited to stop by an Open House from 10 AM-2 PM on Monday, July 11 in the University Center Webb Room. The University Center is located on E. 14th Street between Walnut Street and Melrose Avenue.

The move is an attempt to accommodate the tremendous growth of the Institute since its opening in 2005. OLLI provides opportunities for intellectual development, cultural stimulation, personal growth, civic engagement, and social interaction for mature adults in an academic cooperative run by its members who volunteer their time and talents. The Institute predominately features classes developed and led by its members.

OLLI classes already scheduled for the fall cover a range of topics:

  • The American Past: Myth and Reality
  • Gentle Yoga for Seniors
  • History Face to Face
  • Broadway Musicals of the 1980s
  • Making Friends with the Zodiac

“Relocating OLLI to Widener’s main campus will allow new individuals to take advantage of the OLLI courses and the fun and engaging social activities offered to members from a weekly speaker series to field trips throughout the region,” said Matt Weidman, OLLI director.

“Furthermore, the move will allow existing and new OLLI members entrée to university opportunities and resources such as the Wolfgram Memorial Library, the Widener University Art Gallery, and the Widener Observatory.”
