Located in Chester, Widener University is a private university that connects curricula to social issues through civic engagement. The university is comprised of eight schools and colleges that offer curricula leading to associate’s, baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degrees.

Web Content Manager

This position is responsible for maintaining content on the school’s website, ensuring that information is timely, accurate, relevant, engaging, and reflective of the university’s brand identity. He/she will interact with constituents across campus, providing training, editorial guidance, technical support, and an efficient workflow process to facilitate frequent site updates. The person will work in conjunction with the Director of Digital Communications to implement strategic vision and direction for the website and to ensure consistency in brand and messaging.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree and three years of experience managing a moderate to large website, which utilizes a content management system. He/she should have excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, as well as superior interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, HTML, and a familiarity with CSS and web-related software is required.

Area Coordinator

This position is responsible for the operation and management of co-ed residence halls ranging in size from 400-700 resident students. General responsibilities include paraprofessional staff development, student community development, administration, programming, student conduct, advising, multicultural education, professional development, and daily collaboration with staff members from other departments. Areas of emphasis may include first-year student residential education, upperclass apartments, and Greek housing.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or a related field, and at least one year of professional housing experience. He/she must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, and strong administrative and supervisory skills are required.

Assistant Service Learning Coordinator

This position provides support and programming assistance for service-learning and civic engagement initiatives for students. He/she will provide support to the faculty teaching service-learning courses in areas such as community partnerships, clearances, and transportation issues for students and classes. The person will also maintain the civic engagement and service learning website.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in education, sociology, business, or a related field. He/she should have two years of program administration and/or operations management experience. The person will have understanding of service-learning pedagogy, leadership development theory, student development theory, and best practices in civic engagement programs.
