Self-Storage Facility Receives Approval in Concord

By

Metro Storage, which operates more than 100 self-storage properties in 12 states, received approval last week to build a new facility in Concord. The development will include a four-story, 117,828-square-foot building on a 3.7-acre parcel at Pyle Road and Route 202.

The conditional-use permit was necessary because the building’s size and parking area exceed the township’s 65,000 square feet of allowable space. Metro presented the development plan to the board in January. The approval also included associated driveways, landscaping, parking, and storm-water management.

Metro will also upgrade the streets near the property, with plans to widen the existing shoulder, add a raised island at the intersection to restrict travel at Pyle Road to right-in/right-out, and add a raised median on Route 202 to prevent traffic from turning at the existing opening. A “No U-Turn” sign will be required in both directions of the highway.

Metro will also contribute $10,000 to the township for future signal-related studies or improvements for the intersection due to the impact of the business.

Headquartered in Lake Forest, Ill., Metro Storage is a privately owned, fully integrated real estate operating company specializing in the acquisition, development, and management of self-storage facilities nationwide.
