The Actor’s Co-Op in Swarthmore helped move a filming location from Atlanta to the Philadelphia region, writes Joe DiProsperos for South Philly Review.

The independent film about a Philadelphia Italian-American family’s relationships premiered Nov. 13 at the MJ Freed Theatre in Chester.

“Game Day” was supposed to take place in Atlanta, but a connection between the movie’s co-producers Val McAdo and Pete Postglione  and the Actor’s Co-Op relocated shooting to the Philadelphia region.

The Co-Op also helped with casting.

“Game Day” looks at the Fortes who gather every Sunday to cheer on the Eagles.

The tight-knit household has to deal with several hardships and as they watch the game, the family has to come to grips with the tensions and realities of their situation.

“Everyone in this story is fighting for their lives and has something to win or lose,” said Edgar Bravo, the film’s director.

The film was co-written by actor, singer and Philly native Dean Simone, who also stars in the film.  It’s largely based on his real-life family experiences growing up in the Philadelphia area. Many of the people involved in the film are from the Philly area.
