Navigator Ambassadors Helping People After Crozer Closings

Keystone First is putting Health Navigator Ambassadors into Delaware County to help those impacted by the closing of Crozer Health.

A community program from health insurance company Keystone First is helping thousands in Delaware County find healthcare and jobs following the closing of the Crozer Health system, writes Justin Udo for KYW Newsradio.

The Health Navigator initiative is sending trained ambassadors throughout the city of Chester and other parts of Delaware County to connect people to essential services—including healthcare and job resources.

The ambassadors, who received training Friday morning, are working from Keystone’s mobile health unit, which is rotating between key community sites.

That includes the former Crozer-Chester Medical Center property and Taylor Hospital.

Keystone First is also working with other Delaware County organizations.

These ambassadors will provide a critical service to the more than 14,000 people in the city of Chester who are losing their healthcare services.

“Individuals have significant health issues related to congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, and diabetes. These are people who need to critically stay connected to health care,” said Joanne McFall with Keystone First.

The initiative hopes to help those who face doctor and hospital care transitions and other healthcare needs, said Keystone First representative Luis Lugo.

They are also reaching out to help the thousands of employees who were laid off.
