When the Philadelphia Eagles arrived in New Orleans for the Super Bowl, Newtown Square chef Christopher Lynch was already there, serving as a Creole ambassador.
Lynch is the executive chief at Atchafalaya Restaurant and he’s making his mark on the New Orleans food scene, reports Sharrie Willaims for 6abc.
Atchafalaya, named for the Atchafalaya basin, the largest swampland in the United States, serves up traditional New Orleans cuisine with some modern touches.
“We call it a modern Creole, but, you know, lots of pork, lots of seafood, lots of crab meat, uh, lots of butter, lots of creole spice. a lot of fun,” Lynch said.
Whether it’s a live band with your grits and scrambled eggs at the Bayou Brunch, or classic Creole favorites with shrimp, Gulf Redfish, and fried green tomatoes, this neighborhood gem has earned respect from New Orleaneans for its authentic tastes.
Lynch learned his trade in Philadelphia, working with great restauranteurs like Stephen Starr.
And he remains a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan.
For the Super Bowl, he offered up a special Philly cheesesteak tartar and was happy to welcome Eagles fans and even Chiefs fans to his restaurant.
