Malvern’s TIME Kid of the Year Has Goal of Donating Hundreds of Bikes This Holiday Season
Malvern teenager Dom Pecora hopes to once again donate hundreds of bikes this holiday season, write Wakisha Bailey and Mike Spatocco for CBS News Philadelphia.
Last year, Pecora donated over 100 bikes to children in the Chester County community through the bike repair shop he owns with his family, Dom Fixes Bikes, located in Malvern. This year, their goal is to donate 200 bikes to anyone in the community, regardless of age.
Pecora was named a “Kid of the Year” by TIME Magazine earlier this year for his bike donation campaigns and his bike repair work. Dom Fixes Bikes is a 501c3 non-profit organization supporting the biking community through new bike donations and bike repair.
At just 10 years old, Pecora raised $3,000 through social media to purchase a mountain bike. He hopes to continue sharing the joy of biking through the organization’s yearly donation campaigns.
You can support Dom Fixes Bikes through monetary donations, sponsoring a bike donation, or donating used bikes to the shop, and can nominate themselves or another person to receive a bike donation. Donations and nominations can all be made at domfixesbikes.com.
