Delco Horror Haven Invasion Coming to Media Sept. 28 and 29
Delco Horror Haven Invasion, a two-day festival, is coming to Media Borough Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29, that will feature a short film program, writes Stephen Silver for Broad Street Review.
The festival, part of Delco Arts Week, is hosted by the nonprofit Delco Horror Haven.
It will feature 30 vendors, raffles, a DIY craft corner, a food truck and a special ice cream flavor, all at the Media Community Center. Cosplay is encouraged.
On Sunday starting at noon, the a film festival will feature more than 30 short films throughout the day at the Media Towne House.
Delco Horror Haven Invasion is a successor to Media Fright Fest, which was part of the Media Film Festival but was dropped by the Media Arts Council.
Lisa Pietras, Karen Chiarini, and program director Tamme McClelland founded the nonprofit earlier this year to show their support for the horror genre.
Delaware County, with its extensive history, has always been fertile ground for ghost stories, Pietras said.
The organization is aiming to host horror-related events year-round.
“People that like horror and like the whole gothic culture and community, it’s a lifestyle. It’s not just seasonal,” Chiarini said.
