Luxury Housing Market in Chester County Sees Major Uptick in Demand
Chester County is among the Philadelphia region luxury housing markets that are seeing an uptick in demand, bidding wars, and fast sales, writes Michaelle Bond for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
A 3,000-square-foot house in Berwyn that was recently listed for sale at $925,000 ended up selling for over $1.1 million.
According to Sue Fitzgerald, principal agent and team lead of the Susan Fitzgerald Team at Compass Real Estate, it is not unusual for luxury homes in the area.
She added that the spring and early summer have been “very, very busy” in the local luxury home market.
In the collar counties, the luxury home market is most competitive in the $1 million to $1.5 million range, in part due to the lowest amount of supply compared to demand.
Meanwhile, local ZIP Codes are also ranking highly among sales of ultra-luxury homes in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The 19355 ZIP Code in the Malvern area ranked fifth among the top ten ultra-luxury Mid-Atlantic markets this spring. The ZIP Code recorded 23 sales of homes in the top one percent of the market in the second quarter of 2024.
