The future of the Macy’s stores at Oxford Valley, Willow Grove, and Montgomery malls remains uncertain amid the department store chain’s plans to close 150 stores nationwide, write Julia Gomez and Peg Quann for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The locations considered “underproductive” by the chain will close by 2026, and at least 50 locations will shutter by the end of the year.

A spokesperson for Middletown’s Oxford Valley store told the Bucks County Courier Times that they couldn’t comment on the store closing at the mall, which is currently undergoing major construction.

According to a spokesperson the Willow Grove store has no plans to close. A spokesperson for Montgomery Mall could not be reached.

The plans to shut down over 100 stores are part of Macy’s investment in 350 of its current stores, reinvigorate customer relationships, and enhance the shopping experience, according to CEO Tony Spring.

Macy’s said it plans to close roughly 150 underperforming stores over the next 3 years.
