In a competitive bid that drew attention across the state, Wawa emerged victorious in the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s (PLCB) auction for an expired liquor license in Delaware County, writes Pete Bannan for The Delco Times.
The license, originating from Chester, was one of 20 available in counties across the state, and Wawa secured it with a substantial bid of $300,000.
Wawa’s bid was notably higher than the average top bid in the auction, which stood at $141,145.
This strategic move ensures that the company secures a pivotal license, potentially expanding its offerings and services in the Chester area.
With the winning bid, Wawa now has a set timeline to finalize the acquisition and application of the license. The chain must submit the payment within two weeks following the auction.
Following the payment, the company has a six-month window to file a license application with the board.
