Delaware County is represented once again by popular vote on PhillyBite Magazine’s March Cheesesteak Madness 2023 Elite 8.

The two local shops among six others in the Philadelphia region are:

Leo’s Steak Shop

This veteran sandwich shop in Folcroft offers huge sandwiches and has a loyal fanbase calling them the best cheesesteaks in Delaware County. The restaurant has won numerous awards for its sandwiches.

Phil & Jim’s Steaks & Hoagies

Phil & Jim’s Steaks & Hoagies in Brookhaven has won numerous past awards. In June 2021, it was voted “Best Cheesesteak” in the Delaware Valley region from the Cheesesteak Madness Tournament. In 2022, it was named “Best Hoagie on Earth” by Food Network Magazine.

These two will go up against six others as regional contenders for this year’s Cheesy Cup, voted on by a combination of “The People’s Vote” online and “The Judges Vote” for the Final Four and champion vote.

Leo’s and Phil & Jim’s also made the cut for best cheesesteaks in Delaware County, along with the newly-rebuilt 39 North Taproom and Grille in Glenolden and the Original Thunderbird Steakhouse in Broomall, operating since 1956.

This best cheesesteak and cheesesteak shops contest is run annually by PhillyBite Magazine and Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure.
