New capital projects at Philadelphia’s two airports and changes in procedure will take them beyond the pandemic and bring new growth, said Atif Saeed, the new CEO of Philadelphia’s Division of Aviation.

With that formula in hand, his main goal is making sure everyone has the resources they need, writes Ema Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Saeed expects full recovery at PHL by late 2024 or early 2025.

PHL is running a $1.3 billion capital development program to enhance the terminals and the consumer experience.

It is developing a $1.2 billion air cargo facility expansion adding 136 acres of buildings and taxiway to make it competitive with the nation’s largest cargo facilities.

It is modernizing restrooms, building a new Remain Overnight aircraft parking apron and has completed an East Airfield rehabilitation project.

A new standalone Department of Aviation for the city starting Jan. 1 will also increase efficiency.

There’s also work on improving the guest experience, making the airport a proud gateway to Philadelphia, Saeed said.

“There’s a deep desire to uplift customer experience among folks that I’ve interacted with. So, I think I’ve got all the ingredients in place,” Saeed said.
