COVID-19 is resurging once again in Pennsylvania, pushing the number of confirmed cases in Delaware County up and keeping it at a very high level, according to The New York Times.

Last week, there was an average of 89 new daily cases reported in the county, which is about the same as the average two weeks prior.

Since the start of the pandemic, at least 1 in 9 residents have been infected by COVID-19, totaling 63,351 reported cases.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 has fallen in the Delaware County area in the last two weeks. Meanwhile, deaths have remained at about the same level, with 16 new fatalities over the same period.

However, the resurging of cases in Pennsylvania means Delaware County remains at very high risk for unvaccinated people.

On a more positive note, the number of fully vaccinated people in the county also continues to increase. The number of fully vaccinated people in Delaware County is now at 66 percent.

This includes 78 percent of fully vaccinated residents who are age 12 and up and 96 percent of fully vaccinated people ages 65 and up.
