The Philadelphia region, including Delaware County, is benefitting from the recent appearance of several BBQ pit-masters to our area, writes Maddy Sweiter-Lamme for phillymag.com.

That’s meant more delicious options for eating brisket, pulled pork and burnt ends without making a deep trek south.

With more BBQ places opening, that means more smoked meat options than ever before.

And, the Philadelphia region is a BBQ free zone, not locked into any one style. There are enough choices now to satisfy almost every barbecue palate. So have it.

Here are two favorites in Delaware County:

Wilson’s Secret Sauce, Upper Darby

You can smell the smoke as soon as you walk in. Smokers are filled with chicken, brisket, pork and ribs

As a bonus, there are a large number of vegetarian options for meatless individuals and families.

Big Bad Wolf BBQ, Aston

Big Bad Wolf does not disappoint with its menu of barbecue classics.

“You will not find brisket like this anywhere,”  its website tells you.

But their specialty is pork belly bites.

These morsels are slow-smoked, cubed, and fried. Then it’s covered in a sweet and spicy sauce.
