COVID-19 cases have remained roughly the same over the past week. That’s kept Delaware County at a very high-risk level for the coronavirus, according to The New York Times.

The number of hospitalized patients increased during this period.

COVID-19-related deaths have remained at the same level.

The test positivity rate is high once again.

Over the past two weeks, an average of 220 COVID-19 cases per day was reported in the county. That’s about the same as two weeks ago. Since the start of the outbreak, about one in 12 residents have been infected, totaling 49,196 reported cases.

Meanwhile, the average number of hospitalized patients between April 9 and April 15 was 773.

December still remains the month with the highest number of reported cases in Delaware County.

The rate of cases in Delaware County is in line with those in neighboring counties, most of which are also at a very high level of risk.

Delaware County is at a very high-risk level because there was an average of 39 daily cases per 100,000 people reported in the past two weeks.

The risk in Delaware County will decrease to high risk if the daily case rate drops to less than about 11.4 cases per 100,000 people over the past two weeks and the test positivity stays low.

With this risk level, it is recommended that nonessential travel be avoided, along with events that have more than a handful of people.

For those fully vaccinated, follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations for fully vaccinated people since your risk of getting sick is much lower.

You should be mindful that it may still be possible for you to transmit COVID-19 to others.

Vaccinated people should still wear a mask and practice social distancing in public places.
