COVID-19 Cases Lower Thursday for Delaware County, with 132 New Cases Reported

No new COVID-19-related deaths were reported for Thursday, April 22, according to the Chester County Health Department.

As of Thursday, the health department was reporting a total of 1,371 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 826 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities by municipality as reported April 22:

The health department also reported there have been 132 new positive cases of COVID-19 for Thursday, April 22.  Total cases, as of April 22, are 45,764.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 723, affecting 11.13 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,763 cases reported, or 8.15 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 956 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 230,170 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 87.46 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Thursday, April 22, are:

  • Under 10: 2,163 cases
  • 10 to 19: 5,341 cases
  • 20 to 29: 7,669cases
  • 30 to 39: 6,751 cases
  • 40 to 49: 6.196 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,986 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,371 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,670 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,612 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 22, there were 1,192 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Total cases now number 1,122,662.

The state is reporting 52 additional COVID-19 deaths for April 22. The statewide death toll is  25,879.
