Areas marked in red, which includes Delaware County, are considered to be very high risk.

Despite the optimism surrounding lower COVID cases statewide and the increase in vaccinations, in Delaware County, COVID-19 caseloads are about the same.

The number of cases has remained about the same over the last two weeks, keeping Delaware County at a very high-risk level for the coronavirus, according to The New York Times.

However, the numbers of hospitalized patients and COVID-19-related deaths have fallen once again compared to two weeks ago. The test positivity rate still remains high, suggesting that the number of cases may be undercounted.

In the past two weeks, an average of 106 cases per day was reported in the county. Since the start of the outbreak, approximately one in 13 residents have been infected, totaling 42,704 reported cases.

Meanwhile, the average I.C.U. occupancy was at 78 percent as of March 11.

December remains the month with the highest number of reported cases in Delaware County.

The rate of cases in Delaware County is in line with those in neighboring counties, most of which are also at a very high level of risk.
