New York Times Update: Delaware County Remains at Very High Risk Level for COVID-19

By

Delaware County is still at a very high risk level for coronavirus. The number of cases have continued to decrease slightly in the past two weeks but still remain high, according to The New York Times.

And while the number of hospitalized patients in that period has fallen, the number of COVID-19-related deaths has increased. The test positivity rate remained high, which suggests that the number of cases may be undercounted.

In the past two weeks, an average of 208 cases per day was reported in the county, which is a 29 percent decrease from two weeks ago. Since the start of the outbreak, approximately one in 15 residents have been infected, totaling 37,443 reported cases.

December remains the month with the highest number of reported cases so far.

Meanwhile, the average I.C.U. occupancy was at 80 percent as of Jan. 28, falling slightly compared to the previous month and decreasing one percent compared to seven days prior.

However, the rate of cases in Delaware County is in line with those of the neighboring counties, most of which are also at a very high risk level.
