Several Pennsylvania places made the list of the 100 best small towns to raise a family in the nation, and Swarthmore is among them, according to a new ranking published by Stacker.
Stacker compiled the list based on 2020 data from Niche. The factors that were considered include public schools, jobs, and the cost of living, among many others. Only towns with a population under 40,000 were considered.
Swarthmore, with a population of 6,304, ranked 11th in the nation and fifth in Pennsylvania.
The town has a median home value of $410,100, a median rent of $1,169, and a median household income of $109,648.
Swarthmore students also have an oppportunity to go to the highly-rated Wallingford-Swarthmore School District.
Meanwhile, according to the survey results, the best small town to raise a family in the country is Chesterbrook in neighboring Chester County.
