It Was Malware That Took Down Delaware County Computers. Security Gets an Upgrade.

By

Delaware County reports that malware was the culprit that disabled parts of its computer network last week.

It has restored critical systems and has strengthened its security.

With the help of forensic experts, staff worked through the Thanksgiving holiday to restore the network.

An investigation into the disruption is continuing.

The malware, which was placed on certain systems, affected the ability to access certain files on servers and devices throughout the system.

The investigation included partnering with third-party forensic specialists to determine what company information or employee information may have been affected.

As the system is restored, the county will continue to update its network security and change passwords as needed.

“The confidentiality, privacy, and security of information in our care is one of our highest priorities,” reads a county statement.
