Check Out Which Car Color Is Favorite Worldwide, According to Glen Mills-Based Axalta

By

Glen Mills-based Axalta Coating Systems has issued this year’s Global Automotive Color Popularity Report, with white still the favorite car color worldwide, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

White was chosen by 38 percent of car owners around the globe, followed by black at 18 percent. Third place is a tie between silver and gray with 12 percent each.

According to the report, natural tones such as orange and bronze are growing in popularity, as is blue. Green, which was the most popular color in North America a little more than two decades ago, now “barely registers in any region.”

There are also definite regional preferences with yellow and gold common in India and China. Blue is popular in Japan, as it is considered an ecologically friendly shade, while gray is on the rise in Europe.

Brown and beige saw two percent year-over-year growth in North America, while red lost popularity in South America.

Axalta’s research has also found that people’s color selection has some psychology behind it.

“At Axalta, we believe a vehicle’s color is what you fall in love with first,” states the report.
