Syapse CEO Ken Tarkoff

Syapse, a medical technology company from San Francisco that specializes in precision oncology, is expanding its Radnor presence, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The company aims to double its workforce in the area from 15 to 30 this year.

“Our goal is to make precision medicine available to every cancer patient who needs it,” said Ken Tarkoff, Syapse’s CEO. “Our expansion in the Philadelphia area will play a critical role in helping us achieve that goal.”

Syapse has developed software that works with a company’s data-sharing network and other partners in precision medicine. This aids physicians who deliver personalized treatment based on the clinical and genomic profile of their patients at nearly 300 hospitals across 25 states.

To help boost its growth, Syapse wants to strengthen its East Coast presence, making the Philadelphia area an ideal choice. The Radnor office, which opened nearly four years ago, already employs software engineers, account managers, and operations support.

“The Philadelphia region is a major center of both technical talent and leading healthcare organizations,” said Michael Italia, senior director of product development at Syapse. “There’s a great talent pool here.”
