After a long recovery from alcoholism after the death of his best friend, Bam Margera, star of Jackass and Viva La Bam, is finally settling down with his family in Chester County, writes Jason Nark for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Margera became famous through his outrageous stunts on Jackass with his best friend and co-star Ryan Dunn. His career continued to blossom with Viva La Bam, filmed mostly in Chester County.

“We brought Hollywood to West Chester,” said Margera.

Dunn’s death in a tragic crash in West Goshen Township in 2011 led Margera to give up his favorite hobby – skateboarding – and instead look for solace in alcohol.

“I didn’t know what I was doing for a long time, but I went into a deep downward spiral,” he said.

The wakeup call came two years ago on VH1’s Family Therapy with Dr. Jenn. It finally made him see what was truly important in his life.

Now Margera and his wife Nikki are awaiting the arrival of their son, Phoenix. He has also replaced alcohol with ginger ale, and is finally skating again.
