Media has quickly become a hotspot for Pokemon Go players in Delaware County, thanks to the large number of landmarks and memorials designated as Pokestops, writes Rick Kauffman for the Daily Times.

State Street, already popular with shoppers, has seen a huge influx of Pokemon Go players walking through the area, trying to catch virtual Pokemons. This area is especially good for players as there are so many Pokestops, with some of them so close together that they overlap.

The game is also helping players learn more about the area. When they reach a Pokestop, the game provides historical information about that location on their device.

“I didn’t know we had so many historical stops in Media,” said Claire Bernard, 14, sitting with her friend Lilian Liu, 14, in Media’s Seven Stones Cafe for a short break, before continuing the hunt for more pocket monsters.

The game is good entertainment and exercise for adults as well, according to 24-year-old Brian Vail.

“I didn’t know the area too well, but I’ve been walking around to different historical sites,” he said. “I probably walked 50 kilometers in the first week after the game came out.”
